There is something about spring that makes you want to get outside.
The mornings are a little brighter, the days are stretching out, gardens are waking up and suddenly a walk along the coast, a potter in the garden or a long lunch in the sunshine seems like exactly where we should be.
Get out and explore
For anyone keen to explore the region on foot, the Cape to Cape Guide Book is an excellent place to start.

Covering the Cape to Cape Track between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin, the guide brings together detailed walking notes, maps and practical information, alongside insights into the natural history of the region. It is the sort of guide that can turn a familiar stretch of coastline into something worth looking at a little more closely.
For those who prefer shorter walks, Walking Round in Circles features 29 self-guided circuit walks along the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge. From easy 2km strolls through to 17km day hikes, there is plenty of scope to discover another part of the South West.
It is particularly useful for those of us who quite like ending a walk somewhere near the car.

Both guides are locally published by Cape to Cape Publishing and make thoughtful gifts for visitors and locals alike. However long you have lived here, there is usually another corner of the South West waiting to be discovered.
Spring means garden time
Then there's the garden.
Whether you've got acres to play with or a few pots on the patio, spring has a wonderful habit of making us think, I'll just pop outside and do that one little job.
Three hours later...
One of our favourites is the Le Sac Canvas Gardening Belt. Designed in New South Wales and made from heavy-duty cotton canvas, its reinforced pockets keep secateurs, gloves, seed packets, your phone and all those other things that mysteriously disappear the moment you put them down close at hand.

Better still, it isn't restricted to gardening. Flower picking, DIY, crafting, cleaning or any job where two hands simply aren't enough, it's a very useful bit of kit.
Add a pair of our Sprout garden gloves, available in Navy, cheerful Red and more colours in store, and you're ready to tackle whatever spring has encouraged to grow while you weren't looking. They are the sort of gardening glove that makes sense once you have worn them, particularly when spring jobs become rather more ambitious than you had originally intended.

Bring a little spring inside
Of course, enjoying spring doesn't necessarily require gardening gloves or walking shoes.
The BellArt Aroma Bloqs are a simple way to bring a little botanical personality indoors with pieces inspired by flowers, fragrance and the natural world. A little reminder that sometimes it’s the smallest seasonal changes that make a room feel fresh again.

That is what we like about spring most. It gives us an excuse to do a little more of the things we already enjoy. To take the scenic route. To spend some time in the garden. To explore a familiar place from a different direction. Or simply to open the doors and let a little more of the season in.
There is plenty to discover in the South West, and spring is a good time to begin.
