And yes, that extraordinary blue in the salt is completely natural.
Sourced from northern Iran, Persian Blue salt gets its distinctive colour from the crystalline structure of ancient salt deposits formed under intense pressure. As light passes through the crystals, their structure creates those remarkable flashes of blue.
Its flavour is mild and silky-smooth with a subtle sweetness, making it particularly lovely freshly grated over seafood, salads, French-inspired dishes and even truffles.
Designed in Sweden by Jens Sandringer, the set combines beautiful materials with RIVSALT's signature sense of theatre. The Japanese-style grater is made in Japan, while the substantial green marble stand makes the whole piece beautiful enough to leave permanently on display.
Part seasoning, part conversation piece and rather fabulous on the table.

- Hand wash the grater with warm water and a soft brush only. Do not use soap or place in the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly. The natural wood/stone stand can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Salt rock should be kept dry between uses; the high humidity of a steamy kitchen can cause it to weep slightly (this is normal and harmless). Replace the salt rock when it becomes too small to grate comfortably.
